GnoP8 PIF/Finder Extra What are my computer's reqirements This init requires system 6.0 or greater. Although GNO/ME is not required, it would be rather pointless to install this init without. What it does GNO/ME doesn't let you launch Prodos 8 based applications directly. Other applications running over GNO/ME might. Finder is one example. If you've ever tried launching a p8 application while GNO/ME is in the background, you probably either: crashed; or crashed really bad and had to reboot. GnoP8 is a Permanent Initialization File which acts as a Finder Extra. Before Finder 6.0+ tries to open anything, it gives everybody else a chance to open it first. When somebody tries launching something 8 bit, GnoP8 steps in. If GNO/ME is active, GnoP8 tells Finder that everything is taken care of. If GNO/ME is not active, the application will get launched like normal Installation Guide Put it in */system/system.setup/ You could also try changing it's filetype to that of a Finder Extra and placing in in */system/finder.extras/ Bugs If you try to open a p8 application indirectly (like opening a BASIC file), the Message Center will still have that file in it.
